Have you heard that Twitter had recently become the HOTTEST thing on the planet?
BREAKING NEWS…
April 2009 was the biggest month for one of the HOTTEST NEW social networking apps of the century!
In March 2009, Twitter grew 131% (over February 2009) and had 9.3 million visitors in the U.S. alone! Worldwide, it’s estimated at 20 million!!
Early this year, the official figure for the number of Twitter users worldwide was placed around 6 million and growing steadily. The latest report has it that Twitter has overtaken MySpace for the first time on the list of most visited UK websites. Twitter’s growth has been nothing short of amazing!
Twitter is without a doubt one of, if not the fastest growing web application that we have seen. Just one year ago very few people were using or talking about it, and now it is all over the place, with mainstream celebrities, politicians and organizations joining it every day.
As I sit back and reflect:
Times have really changed… soon, it will be another year!
And many of our friends are already on Twitter, communicating and interacting there, making more friends…
It’s a community that’s no longer for the teenagers or the young and cannot be ignored any more like:
- having a phone in the 70s
- having a fax machine in the 80s
- surfing the Internet in the 90s
- having a mobile phone today
When I first tried to get on Twitter, it was really challenging, not knowing what it’s all about and how to get around. It really took me many precious hours just to learn the ropes and get started…
Why do people get hooked on Twitter? Some of the common reasons are news, information, networking, meeting new friends all over the globe, sharing ideas and messages, staying connected, branding and the marketing of products and services.
Some comments on why people use Twitter:-
@sandyorton: i use twitter to find new friends and explore their profiles
@FreshDigits: 1st) for a lot of information. 2nd) meet new frnds all over the globe. 3rd) breaking news
@kchall: started as marketing now social interaction + addiction
)
@Jan_Geronimo: Most of my friends are here. If I have my way I’d rather use FriendFeed.But I can have FUN anywhere so that’s not a problem.
@CaroleCross: To connect, to network, to laugh, to learn, to spread peace, to heal, to love, to embrace, to enjoy
@RyanDeiss: I’m a marketer and I recognize a golden opportunity
when I see one, and to me Twitter is probably the best FREE list-building tool I’ve seen in years
When I first started on Twitter, I had a hard time learning the ropes on how to grow my followers and be an effective networker and marketer on Twitter. I ended up paying thousands of dollars just to learn the art of marketing on Twitter.
As a fellow Twitterer puts it, Twitter seems pretty simple. However, if you want to learn to grow your opt-in list FREE, I have something that might just work for you.
I just heard from my good friend who is also th3 No. 3 Tweeterer in Singapore, Aaron Alexandra Ngoh, that he will be conducting a Twitter workshop again soon with another good friend, Roger Loh. I was a specially invited guest to their previous workshop and I must say that you get absolute value for your money!
So, if you want to save hours of your time in learning how to get around Twitter, check out their up and coming Twitter Marketing Workshop.
You may need to hurry though as I heard there aren’t many seats left and I have no idea when they’re going to re-run this.
So, you might probably like to take a quick look and see if this can fit into your schedule:- Twitter Marketing Workshop

Wow – this is cool. Thanks for the lovely mention, Veronica. I thought we were just shooting the breeze when I replied to the question you sent via Twitter. This is fun – posting a question in Twitter, getting a reply, and continuing the conversation in your blog. We’re going places – straight into your living room. I’m developing a taste for this nice back and forth already.
Just lovely. Thanks once again.
